Done-for-you Gitea and Shopify connection

Shopify Gitea Integration, Wired the Way Your Team Works

A Shopify Gitea integration has no ready-made connector in our research. n8n moves data through an HTTP Request node against Gitea's API, Buddy updates Shopify themes on every push but targets other Git hosts, and Shopify's native Git sync connects to GitHub, not Gitea. A bridge uses Gitea webhooks and the Admin API. We build, test and hand over, from $390.

  • Pushes to a branch deploying a theme

Who this is for

Who Our Shopify Gitea Integration Service Is For

Teams hosting code on Gitea want theme changes to reach Shopify without manual uploads. These are the cases we build for.

You are a good fit if
  • Shopify is your store platform
  • You can give us limited access to Gitea
  • You want a clear scope and price
  • Someone can confirm the test results
  • Teams self-hosting Git

    Gitea holds the theme.

  • Teams deploying on push

    A pipeline updates the theme.

  • Teams using webhooks

    Gitea calls out on events.

  • Teams on n8n

    An HTTP node connects them.

  • Teams previewing

    Preview themes catch errors.

  • Teams expecting GitHub sync

Shopify's native sync is GitHub only.

Problems solved

Shopify Gitea Integration: Six Faults We Fix First

Git-to-theme links fail on overwrites and secrets. These are the six faults we fix.

The problem

Live edits overwritten

The outcome

Merchant changes vanish. We deploy to preview first.

The problem

Tokens in the repo

The outcome

Access leaks. We keep secrets in CI.

The problem

Unsigned webhooks accepted

The outcome

Fake pushes deploy. We verify them.

The problem

Branches deploy to live

The outcome

Mistakes ship. We gate on review.

The problem

GitHub guide followed

The outcome

Steps differ. We confirm Gitea.

The problem

No handover

The outcome

Setup is unwritten, so the next change starts from guesswork. We write down the triggers, fields and tests.

What is included

What Is Inside Your Gitea Integration

Deliverables fall into six groups. The package table further down shows how much of each group a given price covers, so the difference between tiers is easy to judge.

Connection

  • Gitea linked through a personal access token or app installation
  • Shopify access limited to what the flow needs
  • Connection proven with a live read
  • Roles and permissions reviewed with you

Triggers

  • Trigger built for when an order fails to sync
  • Trigger for the moment a theme change is published
  • Rules by tag, country or order value
  • Flow starts when a checkout error appears

Mapping

  • A winner chosen for each field
  • Mapping for order id
  • A mapping table you can read
  • Environment handled, including blanks

Safety

  • Consent and opt-outs respected
  • Alerting on failed runs
  • Silent failures found by a daily check
  • We stay inside rate limits

Testing

  • Tested with a payment error
  • First live runs watched
  • Tests recorded in a log
  • Test on a theme publish

Handover

  • Post-launch questions answered
  • Accounts stay yours
  • A diagram of the data paths
  • Screen-recorded tour of the flow

You give access, answer a brief and approve the test results. Everything else, from the first connection to the final log, is ours.

What we connect and check

What Happens When an order fails to sync: The Gitea Flow

An integration is easiest to judge when you can see it. The picture shows the pieces we build for Gitea: the records on each side, the status of every link and the log a person can read.

Process and timeline

How We Build Your Gitea Integration, Step by Step

We follow the same six steps on every build, which is why the price can be fixed.

  1. 1

    Brief and scope

First we find out what you sell, how your team uses Gitea and which events count. A quick look at your orders and repositories tells us where to begin and what to avoid.

  2. 2

    Access and connection

Access is narrow and approved by you, using a personal access token or app installation. A live read proves the connection works before any build begins.

  3. 3

    Map and rule

Together we map order id, error message, timestamp and environment, decide which system wins each clash and write down how blanks behave.

  4. 4

    Build in a copy

A copy comes first: test data only, a visible plan and, where helpful, a recorded run.

  5. 5

    Test on real cases

We test a failed webhook, a theme publish and a payment error, plus refunds and edits, then compare the results with what Shopify shows.

  6. 6

    Go live and hand over

Once you approve, we switch the flow on, watch the first runs and hand over notes, a diagram and a short recorded tour.

What Keeps Your Store and Gitea Data Safe

None of these costs extra. They are simply how we work.

Nothing sent without approval

Emails, texts and posts that reach customers are approved by you before they are enabled.

Plain scope, two revision rounds

Price first, then two structured revision rounds for anything in scope, so no tweak becomes a surprise charge.

A written definition of done

The flow counts as finished only when a failed webhook, a theme publish and a payment error all pass and are logged.

Secrets kept in a vault

Tokens and keys are stored in a secure vault, never pasted into notes or chat.

Build in a copy, never live

We never build on live data: the flow is tested on test records and your real orders and repositories wait for your approval.

Failures raise a flag

A failed run alerts a named person with the order and the reason. Silence never means success.

Gitea connected and one flow built: open an issue with the order details, with fields mapped and the result tested.

  • Secure Gitea connection via a personal access token or app installation
  • Trigger for the event: an order fails to sync
  • Mapping for order id, error message and timestamp
  • Retries can never create a second record
  • Tested with a failed webhook and a theme publish
  • Written test log and video handover

Three flows running: Gitea will open an issue with the order details; start a deployment check; and alert the developer on call, plus filters, retries and alerts.

  • Everything in Single Workflow
  • A trigger for each: an order fails to sync, a theme change is published, a checkout error appears
  • Environment and custom fields mapped
  • Rules by tag, country and order value
  • Retries and failure alerts
  • Checks on a failed webhook, a theme publish and a payment error

Everything in the core package plus two-way sync, a history load and two weeks of monitoring.

  • Everything in Core Workflows
  • Two-way updates with per-field winners
  • History load of previous repositories
  • A fortnight of run checks after launch
  • Access and roles review
  • Runbook with the rules and the fixes

Projects beyond these packages, such as bespoke objects, heavy history loads, multi-store designs or a custom API build, are scoped and quoted at a fixed price after a short call.

How many orders does the store process a month?Required

Volume decides how much load planning the build needs.

Should data move one way or both ways?Required

Two-way sync adds rules for fields both sides can edit.

Does Gitea already hold records we must match?Required

Matching comes first, so nothing is duplicated.

How soon do you need it live?Required

Standard follows the schedule your other choices set. Pay to move up the queue and go live sooner.

Optional extrasOptional

Each one begins switched off. Turn on what you need, watch the total, switch it back off.

Why Store Design Expert

Why Hire Us to Connect Gitea and Shopify

Most of this job is clicking, and you could do it. People hire us because the unglamorous parts, ids, timing and edge cases, decide whether the connection helps or hurts.

Safety designed in

Retries, alerts, unique keys and narrow access are in every build, not offered as extras.

A price you can plan around

You see the cost and extra days for each choice in the calculator. Any Gitea subscription is billed by Gitea, so check what it charges today.

We live inside Shopify

Orders, refunds, edits and metafields are what we handle every day, which is a different skill from knowing Gitea's menus.

Notes a colleague can follow

Handover notes record the data paths and the choices behind each setting, ready for whoever works on it next.

A direct line to the builder

You message the person who has your flow open. Questions about a trigger or a field get a straight answer.

Experience since 2015

Over 450 Shopify stores since 2015 mean we have seen most of the odd cases that break integrations.

What we need to get started

Getting Started: What We Ask For

Three things get the work moving: safe access, a few answers and a decision-maker. Here is the detail.

Approve a collaborator request

Already trading? Share the store address and accept our collaborator request. You remain the owner, we see only what the role allows, and you can remove us whenever you like.

Starting from nothing? We build first

We can start in our own Partner account, set up the store and the Gitea link, then transfer ownership to you. A Shopify plan is chosen at the end.

Or share a staff login

A staff account is an option. The collaborator route is still better, as it can be cancelled instantly and involves no shared password.

Your Gitea access

Either create the Gitea account yourself and add us, or we open it with your email. You remain the owner, and we work through a personal access token or app installation.

Sample records

Two or three representative records from each side are enough. They show us the true shape of your data.

A decision-maker

Name the person who approves the plan and the test, and tell us which system should win when Gitea and Shopify disagree.

Your Shopify owner password and card details never reach us. Changes are made in a copy, and we note every setting we touch.
