How a Shopify Agency Works: Six Steps From Order to Handover

Every job, from a $29 tweak to a full store build, follows the same path. You choose a fixed-price service, we work in a safe copy, and you approve before anything goes live.

  • Fixed price shown before you pay
  • Work done in a duplicate theme
  • Tested on real phones and desktops
  • Written handover with every job

The process

From Your Order to a Finished Store, Step by Step

Nothing here is hidden. Each step has an owner, an output and a point where you can say yes or ask for a change.

  1. Choose a service and package

You open the page for the job, pick a package and add any options. The calculator shows the exact price and delivery estimate before you pay.

  2. Give access the safe way

Invite us as a collaborator on your store. We never ask for your owner password, and you can remove access at any time.

  3. Brief and agree the scope

You answer a short form and we confirm in writing what is included, what is not and anything that needs your sign-off.

  4. Build in a safe copy

Store changes are made in a duplicate of your theme, so the live shop keeps selling while the work is tested.

  5. Check before you look

We test the work on real phones, tablets and desktops and fix anything that does not match the scope.

  6. Hand over and explain

After approval we publish, record a short walkthrough and leave written notes. Two revision rounds are included.

What you can count on

Standards That Apply to Every Order

Your accounts stay yours

Your store, domain and settings remain in your name. We work as a collaborator and you can end access whenever you like.

No surprise invoices

The package price, options and delivery estimate are locked when you order. Anything outside the scope is quoted before work starts.

A reversible change

Because the work happens in a copy, the original theme stays as a backup until you have approved the result.

Two revision rounds

Each package includes two rounds of changes so the result matches what you pictured.

Checked before review

Sizes, behaviour and layout are tested first, so your review is about taste and not about errors.

A written record

You receive notes on what changed and where, so a future developer or your own team can pick it up.

What Happens Inside Each Step of Our Process

The six steps are the same on every job. Here is what sits behind each one.

Choosing a service and package

Each service page lists what is included in its three packages and shows a calculator. Options, extras and a how-soon-do-you-need-it choice change the total, and the calculator shows the new price at once. Checkout locks the scope and price, so nothing changes after you pay.

Giving access the safe way

We ask you to invite us as a Shopify collaborator. We do not ask for the owner password. You choose what we can see and you can remove us whenever you like. For jobs that do not need store access, such as a logo or image work, no access is needed.

Brief and scope

A short brief tells us your goal, examples you like and any must-haves. We reply with a written scope that lists what is included, what is not and anything we need from you. If something in your brief falls outside the service, we say so before work starts.

Building in a safe copy

For theme work we duplicate your theme and build in the copy. For content and graphics we work in files outside the store. Your live store keeps trading while we work, and the original stays as a backup until you approve.

Checking before you look

We test on real phones, tablets and desktops and compare the result with the scope. Anything that does not match is fixed before you see it, so your review is about taste, not bugs.

Handover and explanation

After approval we publish, leave written notes and record a short walkthrough. Two revision rounds are included in every package, and further changes are quoted as small tasks with a fixed price.

Some Plus packages include a thirty-day fix window. Where a service has one, its page says so.

Timing

What Affects How Long a Job Takes

Each service page shows its own delivery range. These are the factors that move a job within it.

The delivery speed you choose

Standard, Sooner and Fastest options change the delivery estimate and the price.

The size of the scope

More pages, sections or products take longer than one change.

How quickly materials arrive

Logos, photos and copy supplied early keep a job moving.

How fast feedback comes

One consolidated list from one approver keeps revision rounds short.

Access ready at the start

Collaborator access accepted early avoids waiting days at the start.

Third-party dependencies

Apps and external accounts can add steps outside our control.

What we need

How to Help Your Project Move Faster

A few small habits make jobs quicker and cheaper.

  1. Accept the collaborator invitation as soon as it arrives.
  2. Send your logo, brand colors and images with your brief.
  3. Include examples of pages you like and say what you like about them.
  4. Say which device matters most for your customers.
  5. Name one approver and give them the authority to decide.
  6. Send all feedback in one message per revision round.
  7. Tell us about any date that matters, such as a sale or launch.

The what we need from you page lists these items in detail, with a checklist you can use before you order.

How a Shopify Agency Process Works

Short answers to questions people often search for on this topic.

What is a typical Shopify agency process?

A Shopify agency process usually runs from scope to design, build, testing, review and handover. Ours is the same six steps on every job: choose a service, give safe access, brief, build in a copy, check, hand over.

How does Shopify store design work in practice?

Shopify store design works by choosing a theme, shaping sections and templates, adding content and testing on devices. Our project workflow adds a written scope and a safe copy so your live store is protected.

What should I expect when hiring a Shopify expert?

What to expect hiring a Shopify expert includes a clear scope, access without passwords, testing, revision rounds and a written handover. Ask for each before you commit.

What is Shopify collaborator access and duplicate theme testing?

Shopify collaborator access lets us work in your store without your password. Duplicate theme testing means we build and test in a copy of your theme before anything touches the live store.

What do Shopify handover documentation and revision rounds include?

Shopify handover documentation includes written notes and a recorded walkthrough. Shopify revision rounds are batches of feedback, with two included in each package, so the project delivery stays within the fixed price.

FAQ

How We Work: Questions Answered

Straight answers about access, timing, changes and what happens after launch. Open any question for the full answer.

How does a Shopify project with Store Design Expert start?

You choose a service and package, see the exact price and delivery estimate and check out. Then we send a short brief and a collaborator request.

Do I have to share my Shopify password?

No. A collaborator request is enough for store changes, and many jobs only need files. We never ask for your owner password.

Will my live store stop selling while you work?

No. Changes are made in a duplicate theme and tested before they reach the live store.

How many revisions are included?

Two revision rounds are included in every package. More changes are quoted before we start them.

How long does a job take?

Each service page shows its delivery range, and the calculator updates the estimate for your options. Faster turnaround options are priced there too.

What do I receive at the end?

The finished work on your store, written notes on what changed and a recorded walkthrough.

What if my project does not fit one service?

Send a quote request. We scope a mix of services or a custom piece and reply with one fixed price.

Can I end our access after the work?

Yes. You can remove a collaborator at any time from your Shopify admin.

Can I watch the work as it happens?

You see the tested result at the review step. For large jobs we can agree intermediate check-ins in the written scope.

What if I change my mind during the build?

Small adjustments fit inside the two revision rounds. New ideas that were not in the scope are quoted as new work with a fixed price.

Do you work weekends?

We work around the clock, and delivery estimates are in working days as shown on each service page.

Can I add a second service while the first is running?

Yes. Additional services can be ordered at any time and are scheduled around the work already in progress.

What if the job is bigger than one service?

We scope larger work as a project with one timeline and one fixed price. Use the request a quote page and describe the whole job.

What do I do if something looks wrong after launch?

Contact us with your order number and a screenshot. Fixes to work that does not match the scope are handled under the revision and handover policy.
