Looker Integrations with Shopify, Priced Up Front, Built With Care

Looker integrations with Shopify run through a warehouse or a connector, because we found no official Shopify block. The reliable route is Shopify to BigQuery to a LookML model; managed connectors like Porter Metrics pull straight into Looker Studio. Shopify's API allows about two requests a second per store, so big syncs are throttled, and read-only scopes keep access safe. We build and test, from $390.

  • Route chosen: warehouse-first or direct connector
  • Read-only scopes and throttled syncs
  • LookML or Studio model for sales, customers and products
  • Test log and a recorded handover

Our track record

Launched 450+ Shopify Stores Since 2015. Now We Connect Them to the Tools You Run.

A store is as useful as the systems around it. Our integration work grows out of years spent within Shopify, so we can tell what a clean order looks like long before it reaches Looker.

Who this is for

Looker Integrations with Shopify: Who It Helps Most

BI on Shopify data needs modelling, not just a connection. These are the cases we build for.

You are a good fit if
  • You sell on Shopify today or soon
  • You will own the Looker account
  • You prefer a quote to an hourly meter
  • You can approve a test within a few days
  • Brands with a data warehouse

Shopify data lands in BigQuery and Looker models it with LookML.

  • Teams wanting quick reports

A direct Looker Studio connector pulls from the Shopify API with a free tier for up to 3 accounts.

  • Teams with large stores

Shopify's API allows 2 requests per second per store, so syncs are throttled.

  • Teams reviewing access

Read-only scopes such as read_orders and read_customers are advised.

  • Teams hoping for a Shopify block

We found no Looker block for Shopify in the marketplace.

  • Small stores

Google Sheets staging works but has size limits and needs upkeep.

Problems solved

Looker Integrations with Shopify: Six Faults We Fix First

BI setups fail on volume and modelling. These are the six faults we fix.

The problem

Sync hits rate limits

The outcome

Loads fail. We throttle.

The problem

Raw data in dashboards

The outcome

Definitions differ. We model once.

The problem

Over-broad access

The outcome

Write scopes are granted. We use read-only.

The problem

Cloud cost surprise

The outcome

Queries are expensive. We design efficiently.

The problem

Stale dashboards

The outcome

Refresh lags. We schedule.

The problem

No handover

The outcome

The model is unwritten. We document it.

Process and timeline

How We Build Your Looker Integration, Step by Step

A fixed order of work keeps the project predictable. You know what happens next at every point.

  1. 1

    Brief and scope

We start with questions: what you sell, how Looker fits your day and which events matter. Reading through your orders and explores shows where the flow begins and what it must never touch.

  2. 2

    Access and connection

Access is narrow and approved by you, using a connected data source or API key. A live read proves the connection works before any build begins.

  3. 3

    Map and rule

The map covers dimension, measure, explore and filter; we put the conflict winners and blank rules in writing.

  4. 4

    Build in a copy

We build against test data, not your live records, and show you the plan and a recorded run where it helps.

  5. 5

    Test on real cases

We test a normal day, a refund-heavy day and a month end, plus refunds and edits, then compare the results with what Shopify shows.

  6. 6

    Go live and hand over

Once you approve, we switch the flow on, watch the first runs and hand over notes, a diagram and a short recorded tour.

Six Safeguards Built Into Every Looker Integration

Careful beats fast when personal data is involved. These are the habits behind every build.

Plain scope, two revision rounds

Price first, then two structured revision rounds for anything in scope, so no tweak becomes a surprise charge.

Counts compared, not assumed

Once data is loaded, we count both sides, so missing or doubled records show up early.

Build in a copy, never live

Test data comes first. Live orders and explores are left alone until you sign off.

A written definition of done

Done means the flow copes with a normal day, a refund-heavy day and a month end, and the results are written in the log.

Secrets kept in a vault

Tokens and keys are stored in a secure vault, never pasted into notes or chat.

Nothing sent without approval

Every customer-facing message is reviewed with you first, then switched on.

  • Field map covering dimension, measure and explore
  • Duplicate protection on every write
  • Checks on a normal day and a refund-heavy day
  • A log of the tests and a short recorded tour

Three flows running: Looker will refresh the explore; adjust the revenue measure; and publish the report, plus filters, retries and alerts.

  • Filter and custom fields added to the map
  • Filtering on tags, countries and totals

  • Two-way updates with per-field winners
  • A one-off catch-up of earlier explores
  • Two weeks of monitoring after go-live
  • Access and roles review
  • Runbook with the rules and the fixes

Custom objects, unusual authentication, several Shopify stores feeding one Looker account, high-volume stores above 10,000 orders a month, and builds that need your own servers are quoted separately at a fixed price.

What is your monthly order volume?Required

Larger volumes need more careful queuing and testing.

One-way or two-way sync?Required

Two-way sync needs conflict rules for every shared field.

What is already stored in Looker?Required

Existing data is matched to Shopify ids up front.

How soon do you need it live?Required

Standard follows the schedule your other choices set. Pay to move up the queue and go live sooner.

Optional extrasOptional

Each one begins switched off. Turn on what you need, watch the total, switch it back off.

Why Store Design Expert

What You Get From Us That a Template Does Not

Most of this job is clicking, and you could do it. People hire us because the unglamorous parts, ids, timing and edge cases, decide whether the connection helps or hurts.

Experience since 2015

We have launched more than 450 Shopify stores since 2015 and met most of the quirks that trip up integrations.

A direct line to the builder

Ask the person who built it. Questions about triggers or fields get a direct reply.

Safety designed in

Safety is standard: retries, alerts, unique keys and narrow access are part of each build.

A price you can plan around

The calculator shows the price and extra days for every package and option. Looker bills its own plan fees, so check its current pricing page.

Notes a colleague can follow

Handover notes record the data paths and the choices behind each setting, ready for whoever works on it next.

Tested on your real cases

We check against your own cases, like a normal day, a refund-heavy day and a month end.

What we need to get started

Getting Started: What We Ask For

We need a way into your store, a Looker account and a short brief. Pick the access route that suits you.

Approve a collaborator request

Already selling? Send the store address and accept the request we raise. You stay the owner, we see only what the role permits, and you can remove us at any time.

Starting from nothing? We build first

We can start in our own Partner account, set up the store and the Looker link, then transfer ownership to you. A Shopify plan is chosen at the end.

Or share a staff login

A staff account is an option. The collaborator route is still better, as it can be cancelled instantly and involves no shared password.

Your Looker access

Create the account yourself and invite us, or ask us to create it with your email. Either way you hold the owner role, and we use a connected data source or API key.

Sample records

Two or three representative records from each side are enough. They show us the true shape of your data.

A decision-maker

Tell us who approves the plan and the test, and which rule should win when Looker and Shopify disagree.

We never need your owner password or payment details. Access is limited, logged and removable at any time.

FAQ

Looker Integration FAQs

Straight answers on price, scope, timing and what we need from you.

How much does Looker integrations with Shopify cost?

Single Workflow costs $390, Core Workflows $790 and Full Integration $1490. Order volume, data direction, existing Looker data and add-ons change the total, and the calculator shows it before you pay. Most projects land between about $390 and $2090, with delivery from 3 to 14 working days.

How long does the Looker integration take?

Single Workflow takes 3 to 5 working days, Core Workflows 5 to 9 and Full Integration 8 to 14. The usual variables are how much history you want loaded and how quickly you approve the test results. The Sooner and Fastest options shorten the schedule when a launch date is fixed.

Is there an official Looker Shopify connector?

We found none. Queries such as "connect shopify and looker" describe the same work.

What is the reliable route?

Shopify to BigQuery to Looker. Queries such as "looker studio bigquery shopify" point to this service.

Is there a direct option?

Managed connectors such as Porter Metrics feed Looker Studio. Related searches such as "connect shopify to looker studio", the answer is the same.

What are Shopify's API limits?

About 2 requests per second per store. If you typed "shopify looker studio connector", you are in the right place.

Which scopes should I use?

Read-only scopes. The same service covers "looker studio shopify integration".

Is Sheets enough?

For small stores, with limits. This also answers "shopify looker studio template".

Can you build it?

Yes. If you came here from "shopify to looker sync", you are in the right place.
